Finished Chair

I’ve finally finished my second upholstery project and am very pleased with the results. Starting with a tired looking bedroom chair, I stripped it right back. I got rid of the old foam and decided to re-upholster in a more traditional way using horse hair.
I love stripping chairs back to their original state, it’s so interesting to see what lurks beneath all the old upholstery and then deciding to bring it back as new. I stripped back the old orange varnish from the legs and then stained the wood giving it a much more expensive feel. I found the fabric from a warehouse in Leeds at a bargin price and this it suits this chair perfectly.

I’ve made a start on number 3 – the white arm chair posted in a previous month. I’m also looking for people to commission me with simple projects so if you have anything you want revamped – don’t chuck it, upholster it!
