Nicolarius Vintage stall

I’ll be doing a stall at the Oxford Vintage Fair this Saturday, 27th February.  It’s the first fair in Oxford and I have lots of lovely vintage clothes, accessories and homewares to sell as well as my own hand crafted vintage goodies.  If you’re around Oxford for the day do drop in.  Full details on the Affordable Fair website.

Hope to see you there x

Before

Stripped back

I’ve already added a couple of posts about the re-upholstery project I have been working on over the last few months in my evening class and I’m pleased to say it is finally complete.

I’m so happy with the finished product.  I used a lovely black and white herringbone fabric from Malabar for the main covering and used the same fabric but in a contrasting lime shade for the piping and buttons.  I think using this contrasting piping really helps the shape of the chair stand out.

It’s been quite a long process from striping the chair back to slowly putting it back together again and certainly been challenging.  The things that you think will be easy are always the most difficult ie putting the arms back on the chair frame once they were upholstered was no easy task!

It’s taken up residence in my sewing room for now but I think I may need to part with it at some point to free up some space and maybe make some money from my hard work.

For more photos have a look at the flikr set and if anyone is interested in purchasing do get in touch!

I’ve just taken delivery of my new industrial machine so I’m looking forward to a doing some heavy duty sewing for my next project x

Living room reception area

My first commission of the year was to make some curtains and matching cushions for Gift Fundraising.  They have a reception area done up like a granny’s sitting room and they wanted to update the area with some new curtains.  I found some lovely floral curtain fabric on ebay and set to work on making the curtains and matching cushions.  I took the finished products to them today – take a look at the photos.

I love this fabric print

It’s such a dark and dull, miserable winter’s day today.  Just looking through some photos I found some pictures I took of a particualarly good junk market find a few months ago which cheered me up.  I love this fabric print – I found 2 chairs in the same fabric and they are in immaculate condition.  I seem to remember it was a very rainy, stormy day but this find certainly made the trip to the market worthwhile.

The blue and the yellow colours are such happy colours together and I can’t wait to get them out when the weather starts to cheer up a bit more.  In fact I might take them in my flat and start using them straight away!

Purple baby booties

I’ve been practicing my knitting lately and made these cute little baby booties at the end of last year which I sent to my friend.  Quite simple to make and very therapeutic I think I will be doing a lot more knitting this year.  I’ve already just about mastered a small child’s sock – need to do the other to make a pair though.

There are some lovely patterns in this Debbie Bliss book Simply Baby.  Lots of easy projects for little ones which make great presents for any new arrivals of which there seems to be quite a lot at the moment so I best get on with my knitting x

If you’re looking for some last minute Christmas gifts I’ve just uploaded some new goodies to my etsy shop.  I’ll be adding some more purses, make up bags and shower caps over the next few days so please do have a look.

Happy Christmas shopping x

Vintage Christmas decorations

I’ll be at the last Clerkenwell Vintage fair of the year on Sunday and it’ll be an extra special one for Christmas.

I know it might still seem a little early but it will be here before we know it so come and stock up on some lovely vintage decorations for your tree which I’ll be selling and some unusual Christmas presents – some photos are posted of things I’ve made here.

You can then sit back and be smug that you’ve started your shopping! Hope to see you there x

White Chair

Not so white anymore

You may remember I posted a photo of the white chair a while back now.  It was a great find and I’m really pleased with the progress I’ve made.  I’ve got as far as putting the top cover on the back of the chair.  I’m using a black herringbone fabric and using contrasting fabric for piping and buttons.  I learnt how to use the button machine last night which was quite exciting!  Simple things.

Can’t wait for it to be finished – my aim is before Christmas so I have 4 more lessons to get it done.

Treasure Trove in Bergen

Mr Fox keeping an eye on his treasure

Always on the look out for junk finds I thought I’d post some photos from my recent trip to Norway.  We came across a great junk shop in Bergen.  Unfortunately it was closed but I managed to take some snaps through the door and what a treasure trove I was missing out on!

Luckily I managed to find a flea market when we got to Oslo which had some interesting bits and pieces – but as with everything in that country – nothing comes cheap!

Lovely Scandinavian ceramics

Love these chairs

I love the scandinavian ceramics – they’re not that easy to come by in this country.  Due to prohibitive prices and lack of space in my suitcase I didn’t purchase any of the lovely ceramics on display but it was great to just look.  I did pick up some lovely scandinavian Christmas table cloths though which I’m very pleased with.

Everything is so beautifully displayed and designed and I wanted to be able to take it all back home!

I was selling my new clutch purses made with vintage fabrics and backed with leather with a leather handle at the Affordable vintage fair in London yesterday.  I’ll be selling them these and more hand made goodies at the Clerkenwell Vintage Fair on 8th November.  It’s the last one before Christmas so it’s a great way to kick start your Christmas shopping and to find something a little different.
